The First Signs of Menopause-What You Should Know
The “M” Word

Why do you want the air conditioner on when the rest of the household is in coats and sweaters? Why does your face resemble the ‘comedy’ and ‘tragedy’ masks because your moods change so abruptly? And why do you go on crying jags for no reason? If you are a woman from 40 to 59 years of age, the answer is simple. You are experiencing the first signs of menopause.

There, it’s out. Take a deep breath. Believe it or not, menopause is not a death sentence nor does it mean you are no longer a complete woman; quite the contrary. It means you are moving into the next phase of womanhood. Think about the freedom you’ll feel not to have to bother with monthly periods again. A lot of women feel even sexier after menopause for that very reason.

Beards, Mustaches, And Chest Hair

No, in spite of the myths you’ve heard, you will not be in danger of being mistaken for a Yeti and shot down. With certain hormone treatments some (emphasis on ‘some’) women may experience very slight facial hair growth, but it’s nothing a little waxing can’t take care of. It’s good to talk to, and network with, other women but don’t take to heart everyone’s horror stories. Each first signs of menopause case is as unique as the woman experiencing it.

“I’m Every Woman”

So the song goes, and it is so true. Every woman, if she lives long enough, will experience the first signs of menopause. It is a normal part of life. There are different treatments available, including herbal supplements to help with the first signs of menopause. Some symptoms you may experience are hot flashes, mood swings, irregular periods, fatigue, slight incontinence upon laughing or coughing, and difficulty concentrating. No two women will have the exact same symptoms, so try not to compare. You may breeze through the first signs of menopause, while someone else may have a more difficult time. Remember to have regular check-ups with your doctor.

Try to remember that this is not a curse, and it doesn’t last forever.
